Lagos traffic congestion Cable car to the rescue

Although Capt. Dapo Olumide has many achievements to his name (some of which manifested too early in his life to feature in his impressive resume), his footprints in the aviation industry remain reference points long after he exited. After years of flying Aero Contractors planes and managing the airline later, he went on sabbatical…only to return to the industry as boss of Virgin Nigeria until it was sold in 2010, prompting a well-earned ‘retirement’.

Last month, the articulate and amiable project development specialist re-emerged on the scene with a project, which he insists is related to aviation: The Lagos Cable Car Transit System. In this exclusive interview, the Chief Executive Officer of Ropeways Transport (the company behind the cable car project) gives more insight into the project planned to dove-tail into the existing transport network in the state, with fast, safe and affordable services said to be its strong points.

Boko Haram moves to Lagos

Joint operatives from Department of State Security Service (DSS) and the military have arrested a Chadian with explosives, arms and ammunition in Ijora Badiya on Lagos Mainland.
The operation and the arrest of the Chadian with bombs sent shivers down the spines of residents of the area who were suspecting that the dreaded terrorist group, Boko Haram, may have finally arrived in Lagos.

Daily Sun reliably gathered that the operation follows information from residents of Ijora Badiya that a strange man had been making some suspicious movements in the area. The suspect whose identity remains a secret for now, was alleged to have rented a mini-flat in the area since the past one month.
The man was said to have been making some suspicious movements and after last Monday’s multiple bombings of the Luxury Bus Park in Kano metropolis, residents of Badiya became afraid and reported him to the DSS. The DSS was said to have mounted surveillance on the man and after confirming the fears of their informants, they contacted the military.

All the reasons why Arsenal can still beat Bayern and reach Champions League quarter-finals

All the reasons why Arsenal can still beat Bayern and reach Champions League quarter-finals

We wanted to be positive. We honestly did.
We took a look at Bayern Munich’s odds of 1/100 on to progress to the quarter-finals against Arsenal tonight and fancied backing a famous comeback in the Allianz Arena.
We tried to find reasons to believe it was possible. Omens, empirical data, you name it. But after we’d considered it all, this was what we are left with if we are to believe that a British club will make it into this year’s last eight of the Champions League...

Barcelona overcame a two-goal deficit last night

Except Arsenal are not as good as Barcelona, Bayern are better than AC Milan, and Arsenal have to do it away from home as well

Why then do people nowadays cheat on their spouse? Probably for the same reasons folks have cheated since the beginning of relationships. Arguably the main reasons are:

With the explosion of Type II Diabetes Mellitus being diagnosed amoung our children, one has got to wonder why? I definitely have seen Diabetes affects in my practice and so far the common denominator is the nutrition being given to these children. Degrees That Could Leave You High And Dry After Graduating

Degrees That Could Leave You High And Dry After Graduating

You know what's really smart? Making sure your degree gives you a good return on the time and money you invest in it.

Are you thinking about going back to school for a degree? It's great to expand your mind, discover new things, and challenge your understanding of the world. But let's get real - if you're hoping for a good career at the end of your educational journey, not all degrees are created equal.
Some degrees, it seems, won't provide you with much in the way of career options. "Do not assume that earning a degree necessarily makes you more marketable," says Barbara Safani, owner of Career Solvers (a company that helps clients with job searches) and author of "Happy About My Job Search: How to Conduct an Effective Job Search for a More Successful Career."
With the wrong degree, you might find it difficult to get a job, either because employers aren't interested in the skills you're bringing to the table - or because you got a degree in a field where jobs are scarce to begin with, says Safani.
Want to make sure you don't waste your time barking up the wrong educational tree? Read on to learn about six degrees that might not be worth your investment - along with some alternatives to consider that could pay dividends down the road.

Those who may be Pope

As the College of Cardinals goes into the Conclave to elect the successor of Pope Benedict XV1, one African is among those tipped to emerge as the new pontiff. He is Cardinal Peter Turkson of Ghana. Going by the rule that only cardinals below the age of 81 will enter the Conclave, it means that the new Pope would not be above 80 years. This rules out Cardinal Francis Arinze of Nigeria, who is 81.
Below are the profiles of  cardinals, who may emerge as bishop.

The World Awaits New Pope

With the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI taking effect on Thursday, all is now set for the emergence of a new Catholic pontiff. The College of Cardinals, made up of about 120 cardinals from across the world, would converge on the Vatican, go into the Conclave to pick a new spiritual leader for the largest Christian faith in the world.

Pope Benedict, now designated Pope Emeritus, had given notice of his resignation on February 10, 2013, citing failing health as reason. He is the first Pope to have resigned after 600 years and the second to have quit office in the history of Catholic Church.
With Easter coming up towards the end of the month, it is expected that a new Pope would emerge ahead of the celebration, as the chosen one would celebrate the Easter mass.
