Ultima studio launches U-RAP

Ultima Limited, the Nigerian production company known for bringing quality reality TV shows on international standard, has unveiled its latest search for exceptional Nigerian rappers called U-RAP. In 2004, Ultima Studios opened a purpose-built studio for Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? And it was followed by the music reality talent search show, Project Fame West Africa in 2008.

Ultima’s Project Fame West Africa, had since last five years, discovered and nurtured young and upcoming stars like Iyanya, the Kukere crooner, who won the contest in Season 1. Myke won Season 2 while Kora award winning Chidinma, won Season 3 edition. Other winners include Monica, Ayo, Praiz, Kesse and Anis. In an attempt to showcase the rich and diverse Nigerian talent and to create rap fused with a Nigerian flavour, Ultima studio is looking for creative and talented Nigerian rappers in a You-Tube based talent search.

The multi-stage search kicks off with a free style preliminary stage where entrants are allowed to do their thing, which they simply upload to the URAP site www.urap.ultimalimited.com. These uploaded videos will be judged by four judges – Illbliss, Weird MC, Ghost of Show Dem Camp and Maria an OAP from Beat FM.

In a search that is looking not just for the best, but also for the creative fusion of the genre with a positive and distinctly Nigerian slant. Ultima again, seeks to project the creativity of youthful Nigerians to a global online audience. With the easy of YouTube uploads, and social media sharing the talent of a new breed of Nigerian rappers, it will be broadcast to a global community and with cash prizes, the winner can explore a world of new opportunities.
